TOUCH THE NATURAL FIBERS
7° Festival of Mixed Gardens @Parc de Wesserling_France
Natural
fibres may be defined as “those renewable fibres from plants or
animals which can be easily transformed into a yarn for textiles”.
Vegetable fibres are derived from the stem, leaf or seed of various plants.
From the inspiration of the natural fibres involved in the textile fabrics and especially used for landscaping, the garden is created a simple concept for a new destination for the natural fibres in the garden.
In the English garden of Wesserling, it can be experienced “the touch” of the natural fibres. They can be used as pathway (coir), as fences with different natural ropes (hemp, sisal, raffia, silk) , as pot (jute), as to sleep (cotton). Some useful plants for textile fabric like Agave sisalana, Phormium spp., Linum spp., Spartium junceum or Genista tinctoria, Urtica dioica are showed and they can be touched!
